Hibernian Radio Podcast, Sat. July 1, 2023
Det. Kevin Forrest Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Big Corner Tavern, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour as we return to our First Responders Tour at Big Corner Tavern, and this week we welcome back Detective Kevin Forrest. Kevin grew up in Elmwood Park and works as a Detective with the Lyons Police Department. He has been on the Force for over 9 years and has been working as a Detective for almost 2 years now. He also works as a Forensic Investigator with the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and he investigates many different crimes in Lyons, ranging from petty theft to homicide as well as crimes against children. Kevin is a Board Member of the Emerald Society and long-time drummer with the Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society. He takes us through his typical work day, especially regarding the types of cases he and his team work on solving. “You have to know the sandbox you’re playing in and you have to know the felony review unit.” Kevin goes on to express some words of thanks and optimism in relation to the great support the Lyons community have for their local police. These two pals then delve into how important the police are to the smaller communities and the aftermath of the social unrest during the height of the pandemic. “We’re still getting the blow back from it.” Kevin mentions some of the tactics and important interview skills that can help ease the ‘bad guys’ into confessing and he has plenty of stories to share from his career so far including a criminal sexual assault case he worked on during the first month as a detective where the DNA swab Kevin took from the suspect eventually led to his arrest. He emphasizes the importance of showing respect during these investigations so the perps feel comfortable enough to tell the truth and confess. Kim Foxx, using ankle monitors to CPD’s advantage and criminals crossing district lines to commit crimes are just some of the other topics discussed this week. It’s always a pleasure to have Kevin on the show and no doubt we’ll have this legend back again! Houli then shares some upcoming events including his upcoming trip to Ireland from October 23rd – 30th. Call Specialised Travel at 1-800-664-7474 for tickets and more info! We head over to the recent obituaries followed by a well-needed trip to ‘Houli-Town”.
