Jeff Lange Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Big Corner Tavern, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour for our last recording at Big Corner Tavern, and this week we welcome back CPD legend and old pal of the show, Jeff Lange. Jeff is a retired 30-year veteran of the Cook County Sheriff’s Police and was born and raised in Bridgeport. He is currently the 1st Vice-President of the Emerald Society and has served as a Board Member for the past 9 years. Jeff begins this week’s interview by explaining how he got started working as a bouncer at Shenanigans in the ’80’s before joining the Cook County Sheriff’s Police where he began working at the Cook County Jail – he even met his wonderful wife Cathleen there! Jeff spent 22 years as a Narcotics Investigator investigating drugs, guns, money laundering and murder-for-hires. He also spent quite some time doing undercover work all over the state with the Metropolitan Enforcement Group, an undercover task force made up of the State Police, the County Police and municipalities in that area. He goes on to share some of his all-time favorite stories from his extensive career including responding to a call where a female was stuck in a basket hanging from the ceiling at the Sybaris hotel… The suspected serial killer currently active around Chicago is a hot topic between the two friends this week along with discussing some of the more disturbing things our policemen and women deal with everyday – it’s not for the faint of heart! As always, the craic is mighty between these two pals and there’s never a dull moment when Jeff Lange is around! Houli goes on to discuss some upcoming events including their trip to Ireland in October –  call Specialised Travel at 1-800-664-7474 for tickets and more info. Then we head over to the recent obituaries followed by some music with “Wavelength” by Van Morrison. We end our last Big Corner Tavern show with a well-needed trip to ‘Houli-Town’.
