In Praise of Low Hanging Fruit

This week I'm sharing an unpopular opinion.I've gotten tired of seeing posts on social media knocking self-care strategies as a way to address burnout. You know what I'm talking about, the posts that say that you can't "cure burnout" with a massage, or a yoga class, or a bath. The posts that refer to these things as "faux self-care." And I get what they are trying to say, but I think what the people who post this type of thing forget is that that massage, that yoga class, or that bath might be how someone who is suffering with burnout first gets some relief. And I want to be sure that we don't close the front door for anyone who is looking for a way to feel better by telling them that there is a better way to feel better - it's just going to take them a bit longer, be a bit more involved, and require a higher level of commitment from them. Join me on this episode to hear more about why I think so-called "faux self-care" strategies might be an easy way in for someone who is learning how to take care of themselves.
