John 13-15: Love Is the Foundation

I’m calling this episode “Love Is the Foundation.”  Design: Scott Snider | Photo: Marius Ciocirlan on Unsplash Summary In John 13-15, Jesus shares important teachings with His disciples during their last meal together before His crucifixion. He emphasizes the commandment to love one another, repeating it multiple times. Jesus knew that the disciples would face a great task of spreading His message, and unity and love among them were crucial for this mission. By loving one another, they could overcome differences and demonstrate qualities such as patience, kindness, and endurance. Love and unity lead to accomplishing great things when guided by God. Jesus also warns the disciples that the world will hate them, just as it hated Him, but loving one another would help them withstand the attacks. In present times, division weakens our effectiveness in sharing Jesus’ love, and instead, we should strive for unity and love, both within the faith community and when reaching out to non-believers. Divisive and insulting social media posts hinder our mission, and as followers of Jesus, we should reflect His love and be a positive influence in the online world. Listen to the episode for more!
