Jon McDowell on Short-Term Pain for Long-Term Gain, Nailing the Basics and Prioritizing Self-Care as a Coach
Jon McDowell, the co-founder of Train Vive and former Division 1, All-American track athlete, joins us today to remind you that the basics can’t be beaten. Jon works 363 days per year and “vacations” to education events that prioritize his growth as a business owner and a coach. In today’s episode, he reveals his daily schedule for optimization and lets us in on the mindset he embodies to maintain his high output. Not only has Jon developed a state-of-the-art semi-private training model that allows him to maximize results and profits, but he’s done it all while living the lifestyle that he preaches. More about Jon: Jon McDowell is the co-owner and founder of Train Vive, Dallas, Texas, and a former NCAA Division 1 All-American Track and Field athlete. With sixteen years of coaching under his belt and qualifying for the Olympic Trials at the height of his athletic career, Jon knows what it takes to compete at the highest level and the training required to get there. Co-owner of VIVE Personal Training in Dallas, TX, Jon has had the privilege of coaching world medalists, youth national record holders, national champions, and twenty youth All-Americans. Jon strives for perfection in all assets of his life and his business. He is best known for his research and practical application of barefoot training and its correlation to increased speed and velocity in track athletes. As well as his group training model that maximizes gym space, profit, client results, and retention rates. Over the years, Jon has been fortunate to work with world medalists, youth national record holders, national champions, and 20 youth All-Americans. Accredited through USAW, USATF LV1, and ISSA, Jon holds certifications in Biosignature, Metabolic Analytics, Procession Nutrition, and Fascial Stretch Therapy. In addition to having completed the Poliquin group, Strength Sensei, & Kilo strength society's catalog of courses. He is currently one of few trainers in Dallas certified in ICANS, YPSI, Metabolic Analytics, and Biosignature Analysis. As well as one of 2 private facilities in the DFW metroplex to offer 1080 Sprint training.
