Manga
When a law is passed by the parliament, an army of public servants gets busy creating the regulations needed to implement it. And then individuals have to interpret and apply these rules. The problem is that sometimes the complex detail hides the idea behind the legislation. It happened in Jesus’ time too. He criticised the religious leaders who complicated God’s laws with trivial rules that missed the point of the law. Church leaders have done the same over the centuries, until now some churches are buried beneath rules, expectations and rituals, turning people away from God. Jesus pointed out that there were only two laws, and that following them was not meant to be a burden. Phil explains.
