Lean Into Cultural Identity: Redefine the Definition of Success
It's Pod Club time when we dive into last week's episode and focus on the real gems of what we learned from Stephanie De La Cruz, Founder of De La Creamery ice cream, with flavors inspired by her Mexican heritage. Just like your favorite book club, you'll want to sit back, grab your favorite bevvie and join in the discussion. If you missed last week's episode with Stephanie De La Cruz, no worries! This episode stands on its own. This week is all about leaning into cultural identity to discover true success on your terms. We are taught to aspire to what we see around us. But, it's a different culture than our DNA, so we end up just copying behaviors and not living our true identity. Stephanie had a great career, hitting all the marks, but she knew she had more to give than what her roles required. Then, she received the catalyst that lit her up and guided her back to her cultural identity and with that, real success. It's all about learning to live WHO you are, rather than, WHAT you are. And she's not alone as I discovered at the 2023 NCCWSL event at University of Maryland where I presented my workshop, Cultural Identity: Authenticity is Your Superpower. The exciting discovery is that we are all together in this journey, with support and kindness to help each other find their true identity. Plus, a sneak peek into next week's episode with award winning author of 'Uncolonized Latinas', Valeria Aloe. Her story gives grace to be easier on yourself and believe that your best life comes when living true to who you are.Step into your truth, ladies!Consuelo is a first gen Peruvian, structural engineer and mother (and even abuelita! now) who encourages Latinas to authentically speak their truth by embracing their cultural identity, a source of fiery strength and profound joy.
