Linda Uhl, from Chief Counsel to Mental Health Counselor
Join Susan and Linda, who have been friends since 1978 and day one (or two) of freshman year in college, as they discuss Linda’s career as a lawyer and Chief Counsel at MaineHousing – an agency of the State of Maine - and training in and transition to being a mental health counselor. In a revealing and thoughtful conversation, they chat through various topics, including transitions, self-awareness, aging and the joys of being present and alive in their lives and in the world.
Linda served as Chief Counsel of MaineHousing for 25 years. MaineHousing bridges public and private housing finance to provide safe, affordable, warm (because Maine in the winter!!) housing for Mainers with low and moderate incomes. When Linda retired from MaineHousing it was a $2.1 billion financial institution with a staff of over 180 people.

Some turmoil at work around 12 or so years ago led Linda to seek therapy. She developed a keen interest in mental health counseling and during her last several years at MaineHousing pursued a masters in mental health counseling. She retired from MaineHousing just under two years ago and now has her own private practice as a mental health counselor.
Linda has been married to her husband Eric, who is also a lawyer, for 33 years. Theyhave two adult sons who are now 26 and 28
As a therapist, legally, Linda may only work with individuals and couples from Maine.
