My Why: Big wave grieving - how to survive
Ever been wiped out by grief? Left bashed, bruised and gasping on the shore? Is it possible to survive these huge waves of grief?

This is a subject I'm blogging about because of the lovely Evelyn Calaunan.

One of the 'rewards' for supporting me monthly through https://www.buymeacoffee.com/thesilentwhy is to choose a blog topic for me to mull over and write about, and this one was inspired by Evelyn.
(Thank you, Evelyn, for your support - it means a lot to me.)

So, welcome to another My Why from me, Claire Sandys, co-host of The Silent Why podcast.

My Why episodes are audio shorts of my latest blog post. If you'd prefer to read it, you can find it here: https://www.thesilentwhy.com/post/bigwavegrieving

Evelyn was a guest on Episode 46 talking about her work as a Funeral Celebrant in Australia, so I was interested to see what she'd ask me to blog about. Evelyn has been through some very tough grief recently, but also experiences waves of it over the loss of her father 25 years ago. She told me that she really struggles with the unexpected waves of grief that appear and wipe her out emotionally and she'd like to explore that more - why do they come? will they always come? and how can we navigate them?

We might all find ourselves telling others that waves of grief are normal and part of the journey, we have the head knowledge of that, but when we experience them, when we are wiped out completely by one, it can be incredibly hard to understand and process.

To find out more about Evelyn listen to Episode 46 - Let's Chat Funeral Celebrants:
https://www.thesilentwhy.com/podcast/episode/76a65230/lets-chat-funeral-celebrants

Or visit her website, where you can also check out her podcast on exploring the narratives of people's lives and courageous conversations :
https://bluemountainscelebrant.com.au/

For more of my audio blog episodes on navigating grief, visit the blog page on the website and click on the category: 'Grief' or 'Loss' - https://www.thesilentwhy.com/blog/

And for the original post by GSnow that I mention: https://www.reddit.com/r/Assis....tance/comments/hax0t the show-----

Support the show through: buymeacoffee.com/thesilentwhy

Review the show: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Goodpods

More about the hosts, our childless journey, photos of guests, blog, and official 101 losses list: thesilentwhy.com

What's a Herman? - thesilentwhy.com/herman

Tips on how to help and talk to griefy people: thesilentwhy.com/post/howtotalktothegrieving

Episode transcripts and support the show: thesilentwhy.buzzsprout.com

Thank you for listening.
