If I had a dollar for every time a business owner said they wanted to hire someone ‘just like them’ I’d be rich!It always reminds me of the line from the Gin Blossoms song, Hey Jealousy which says “if you don’t expect too much from me, you might not be let down".Expecting our team to be just like us is expecting too much. And when our expectations are inflated, we feel frustrated and resentful, and we blame our team, but is it really their fault, or is it our misguided expectations that are to blame? In todays' Power Play I'm unpacking why we shouldn't expect our team to be just like us, and why it's critical that they aren't!
