The Believer Faces Tension | Ep 5
As we walk in this world, we understand that Christians face a degree of opposition. It seems that proclaiming you are a Christian has a negative connotation. People automatically think you are judgmental, harsh, crazy, unreasonable, etc. We live in a pluralistic world where other religions and world views are tolerated. But when you include Christianity in the room where we address current issues and hot topics, they view us as a repellant spray. And there is where the tension lies. Jesus said in John 15:18-19 (NIV):"If the world hates you, keep in mind it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” Jesus chose us out of the world and showed us a new way of living. This way of life opposes the ways of the world. You are treated as a foreigner or alien when you are different. That is where the tension lies. Today, we will closely examine 1 Peter 3:8-16 as a guide to navigating tension in the world we live in today. Today’s message aims to consider this particular verse for your interpersonal encounters with tension and how we, as a Body of Christ, can respond to tension together and witness Jesus Christ to those of the world and the de-churched.
