The Family Needs a Place to Start, S.BI.R.T.

The family is facing a new reality, addiction. It will never be the same, and all things will likely have to change. But where do they need to look, what should they ask from themselves in how to get started.Screening is the first step. In screening we find the starting point, it will identify what is going on and how to respond. There is a good tool that helps us to get started, S.BI.R.T. Screen. Brief Intervention, Referral, Treatment (SBIRT). We will screen them, do a brief intervention (if required), make a referral and start treatment. This is the beginning for a family on a journey with addiction. It is a chronic brain disease and it will not go away. It is a lifelong journey.
