The Father's Love For Israel [Hosea 11]
By Pastor Jason Lim God's love for Israel is special. It is Hesed- a loyal love despite Israel's unfaithfulness. It is a love that endures even through betrayal like as from an unfaithful spouse. It is a love that never gives up like that of a father for a wayward son. This passage shows how God chose Israel to bless her. Not because of who she is. And not because she is worth it.God sovereignly and unconditionally set His love upon her to bless her and do good to her.And when she turns away in rebellion, God did not give up on her, nor give in to her, but disciplined her in love. And He assures her that He will ultimately bring her back to Himself in healing and restoring her.God's love for Israel is like God's love for His church. He adopts us into His family out of grace, to bless us and do good to us. He turns our gaze upon Him, using pain and trials if need be. And He is ultimately working out good for His people.
