The Shortcomings of Postpartum Maternal Care Pt. 2
In this episode, Jenna and Renata touch on the barriers surrounding breastfeeding, the benefits of skin to skin, lactation nutrition, community support, must reads, doula work, and insurance coverage. We believe breastfeeding is not encouraged enough, whether it be in the hospital or around America. We discuss possibilities that could help reduce the stigma surrounding breastfeeding as well as nutritional components that play a role in milk productions. Doulas are a really great help for prenatal and postpartum care and now insurance companies are creating plans to have clients reimbursed if they use a doula. We feel this is a step in the right direction for moms to be and new moms.Jenna and Renata also mention community support and how it is necessary to be given resources to find where the support exists in surrounding areas. We believe it should be mandatory to provide a resource list so a mom to be and new mom don't have to go searching for it, especially if moms are experiencing PPA and PPD.
