The more-reliable-than-most Quinnipiac Poll today, Sept. 13, 2023, contains a telling piece of underlying reality. The overall national poll of Republicans shows Trump trouncing DeSantis by 62% to 12%. That’s “stick a fork in it” time for DeSanctimonious. But it’s much worse than that. The key underlying data is that among the key and controlling group, which is Republicans who call themselves “very conservative”, Trump is shellacing DiSaster by 79% to 10%. There is no way to recover from that kind of over-the-falls wipeout. If Ron DeSantus were smart, and apparently he isn’t, he’d curl up, take a real deep breath, and get ready for the (surfing terminology) inevitable “hold down”.
