To Begin to Know, Must Begin with Knowing the LORD Jesus!
This morning we return in earnest to the study of the fear of the LORD. Proverbs 1:7 reads, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.” We will begin by examining this truth statement that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. Real knowledge of anything must be based on truth. Truth is the substantive reality of the thing we desire to know. Jesus Christ is the great “I Am,” the eternally existing One, who created all things both visible and invisible, physical and spiritual. All things were created by Him, through Him, and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together! Without the fear of the LORD which is the reverential awe and adoration of the Christ which we possess through a growing knowledge of Him, we become easy targets for indoctrination not education, the philosophies of men rather than true wisdom and understanding, and the craftiness in deceitful scheming rather that the pure unadulterated truth! We will discover that the fear of the LORD in reverential awe and adoration must come first in our lives if we are to discover real knowledge based on substantive truth. First, we establish that Jesus is the beginning point for all knowledge. Second, we will discover that those who hate real knowledge are fools and will suffer greatly both in this life and in the life to come. We will also find that those who love real knowledge, the knowledge based upon God’s creation, will be richly blessed in this life and in the life to come.
