029 // Shalom - Peace I Give - Peace beyond understanding - Peace to you in Jesus name
Today’s episode is all about a Jesus kind of peace and not this world's. Listen and be encouraged by expanding what the word "peace" in many places in the NT means, far more than the most common understanding of absence of conflict or war. Shalom - a Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, wholeness, completeness, prosperity, welfare and tranquility. Inner completeness and tranquility, inward sense of completeness or wholeness, peace in all areas of life. Apply this definition when you read the word peace in the following verses (NHEB)… Jn 14:27 27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jn 16:33 33 I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up. I have overcome the world." Phi 4:6-7 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Look through this list of verses in the NT. How does this new understanding of the meaning of the word for peace help in context of some of the verses below?
