03 - Periods, Shame & The Pressure To Be "Authentic"
In this episode, I talk about the shame that I have felt around my period, a practice I do with my menstrual blood, womb and even the word yoni. How I feel that if we, as women, share and talk about these aspects of our existence (at the end of the day, simply being a woman), we will be shunned, isolated and rejected and how I've had enough and no longer subscribing to that fear.I also speak about how authenticity is putting pressure on us to share when we simply don't want to and that you get to choose what and how you share. We've been sold this idea that to be "authentic", you have to bare your soul to the world, when that's simply not true.♒︎The woman I mentioned who I am so grateful to for sharing and how her message was changed with different news and media outlets: Jasmine Alicia Carter.Chloe Wastell (The Guidance Library Podcast & Motherwild, a global mother's network) - the menstrual cycle workshop I mention where Chloe talks you through the cycle, seasons and how best to work with it.Elena Herminia (Transformation Coach & Guide) - blood masksEm Naylor (Sol Health Holistic) - yoni healing♒︎All Info: Work With MeInstagram: @olaparkesintuitiveEmail: ola@olaparkes.com
