13. Unveiling Realities - Exploring the Intersection of Wellness, Hospitality & Real Estate with Horacio Alcala
What do we truly know about the immense value that wellness adds to the realms of hospitality and real estate? Moreover, what unknown challenges do investors encounter when considering hospitality products with a robust wellness component? These are the questions I tackle in today’s episode with the highly seasoned hotelier and investor, Horacio Alcala, who I introduce in detail in the interview I share in a few minutes. In this interview, Horacio sheds the light on the harsh truths that investors face when embarking on investing in hospitality products with a strong wellness component. He highlights three key factors: The wellness and wellbeing aspect of the hospitality industry is becoming increasingly important and is experiencing growth. However, there is a lack of data and transparency, making it challenging for investors to make informed decisions and allocate funds. The evolution of wellness in the hospitality industry has shifted from simply focusing on fitness to encompassing wellness, nutrition, and overall wellbeing. There is a need for more comprehensive measurement and understanding of the financial impact of wellness initiatives. Investors are showing interest in wellness-oriented hospitality products, but there is a need for more data-driven analysis and clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess return on investment. The industry should work on sharing data, establishing benchmarks, and aligning on measurement standards to attract more investment.
