#258 Heroes for Little Heroes: Supporting Children Battling Diseases with Briana Gallegos
Step into the bustling office of Wichita's Littlest Heroes in downtown Wichita, where we meet our next guest, Briana Gallegos. Born and raised in a small town in Kansas, Briana's story is one of strength, responsibility, and unwavering dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. From a young age, Briana faced the challenges of her parents' messy divorce. However, out of the ashes of this turmoil, she gained a remarkable stepmother who became a guiding light in her life. Tragically, her stepmother passed away when Briana was just 14 years old, thrusting her into the role of the woman of the house and shouldering adult responsibilities at a tender age.Now a mother herself, Briana cherishes her eight-year-old daughter as a true miracle in her life. Her journey has been shaped by her deep connection to church, particularly the music it offered. Briana opens up about the delicate balance of church involvement for young people, highlighting the importance of finding one's own path and taking breaks when necessary.Briana's compassionate nature and her innate desire to help others have led her to wear multiple hats and take on various roles. One of her most fulfilling endeavors is working at Wichita's Littlest Heroes—a nonprofit organization that supports young children battling diseases. In this role, Briana matches these courageous youngsters with generous donors, enabling parents to take time off work and cover the costs of their children's treatments. It is a challenging job, but one that fills her heart with a profound sense of purpose.Despite juggling multiple responsibilities, Briana finds joy in her work because it aligns with her core values. Her selflessness and inability to say no demonstrate her unwavering commitment to serving others. Join us as Briana opens up to The Jar, sharing her unique perspective on growing up in a small Kansas town, attending the same school as her mother and grandfather, and how these experiences have shaped her into the compassionate and dedicated woman she is today.
