Are you really a piece of shit or are you just being too hard on yourself?
Society has long perpetuated unrealistic standards, placing huge pressure on women to meet unattainable and conflicting ideals. We constantly compare ourselves to others, striving for perfection in every aspect of our lives - just think of the pressure to organise the "perfect" kid's birthday party, "bounce back" after pregnancy and be the perfect balance between confident but not bossy! (Ugh) This self and society-imposed scrutiny often leaves us feeling inadequate, unworthy, and trapped in a cycle of self-criticism.But what if we shifted our mindset? What if we chose to be kinder to ourselves and leave the perfectionism at the door? This is a topic that both Pia and Kaya explored in their lives this week. Pia learned that doing less at her son's birthday party meant she actually got to connect more with the people she loves. And Kaya, having received kindness from a total stranger is reminded to show kindness to herself in her work and her life at home.In a world that often tells us to prioritise everyone else's needs above our own, self-kindness feels like an act of rebellion—Why does looking after ourselves first feel so uncomfortable and how is this serving us? We share our story to remind women out there that you are deserving of self love. It's time to stop the internal dialogue of calling ourselves a piece of shit!
