Blessed are the Poor In Spirit

In this season of the prayer meetings, we begin a short series through the Beatitudes. We consider the general pattern of the Beatitudes and seek to understand what it means to be blessed of God. Then we open the first Beatitude - -Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven- and understand the blessing or happiness that God bestows upon those who are of a broken and contrite spirit and find all their happiness in Christ, who opens heaven to them. Christ promises that those who embrace a poverty of spirit will find everlasting happiness in Him.
