Chapter 9: Operator to Owner
Chapter 9 Summary"The reason companies lose relevance, go broke, or fade into the sunset is because they continue to grow, but fail to evolve.” ~ Keith J. CunninghamUnless you are a seasoned entrepreneur, you probably have no idea what the difference is between being a business owner and being a business operator. I'll give it to you in shorthand; if you are a business operator, you are a person who runs a business. You may even be making at high 6 or 7 figures, but the truth is all you have is a glorified job. Things fall through the cracks if you don't go into the office. You struggle to take actual time off of work because you literally can't take time off. Otherwise, you're not getting paid, or things are falling apart! You spend your time running around playing whack-a-mole. This was me until about two years ago, and if it’s you, don’t worry; it can and will change by applying what you’re learning from this book.
