Welcome, fellow true-crime enthusiasts, to today’s case file: “Chasing Shadows – The Samantha Knight Story” Who is Samantha KnightBorn under the name Samantha Terese O'Meagher on March 25, 1977, the girl who would become Samantha Terese Knight seemed destined for an ordinary life in Manly, living with her parents, Tess Knight and Peter O'Meagher. But ordinary was never on the cards for her. The ink was barely dry on her parents' divorce papers when she and her mother packed up and jetted to Bronte a suberb of Sydney. By 1986, they found themselves in the labyrinth of apartments on Imperial Avenue, Bondi, less than a mile from the beaches of New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the most tourist visited destinations in Australia and a beautiful beachside community.
On August 19th of that year, she would have been experiencing an ordinary Tuesday for a 9-year-old. Samantha Knight left school and returned home to her apartment around 4:15pm. Later, when her mother returned from work and could not find Samantha, she reported her missing. She knew immediately, when she was not where she was supposed to be, that something was terribly wrong. She would later say that it was as if Samantha had simply vanished into thin air. As her disappearance began to spread like wildfire around the community, witnesses would come forward stating that they had seen her between 4:30pm and 6:45pm in the vicinity of Bondi Road and between Imperial Avenue and Wellington Street. Tess saw a half-eaten snack in the kitchen on the bench when she had returned from work and spoke to anyone, they knew having only lived there a few months. It would be confirmed that Samantha had come home from school changed into a navy-blue track suit top, a pink shirt and blue sandals lea
