Coming Out & Men’s Mental Health with James Cahill
Happy Tuesday Mental Pleasure family! It’s the second week of our Men’s Mental Health Awareness segment and we’d like to welcome Sir James Cahill. James opens up about what his life was like in middle and high school, feeling repressed and “in the closet”, versus the authentic life he feels free to live now. We dive into the times when the American Psychological Association once listed homosexuality as a “mental disorder” and discuss the research proven statistics, showing gay and bisexual men having higher chances of being diagnosed with major depression, bipolar disorder, and generalized anxiety disorders. We know being true to oneself not only takes work but also deep healing within, which James also discusses. His introduction to therapy during his college years not only proved to help in his toughest years but also necessary for his overall growth. Happy listening!

You can follow James @james_cahill8
Liked what you heard or have a question you want answered? Message us on @mymentalpleasure !
