Corn on the Cob, Silent and Possibly Deadly?
In this episode I discuss my dogs misadventure with a piece of corn on the cob and how I remedied the situation. I only had access to over the counter 3% hydrogen peroxide, which I administered to my dog. This successfully caused her to regurgitate her dinner along with many chunks of chewed up corn cob. Thankfully there were no long term consequences. This is cookout/barbecue season, always dispose of any bones/corn cobs appropriately so your pets do not have access to them. Some possible clinical signs of a foreign body/gastro-intestinal obstruction can include, loss of appetite, drooling/nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, lack of feces, hunched appearance and lethargy. If your pet has any of these signs please contact your veterinarian immediately.Remember if your dog/cat has swallowed anything it should not have please contact your local veterinarian or emergency hospital immediately. This podcast does not provide instruction on how to use hydrogen peroxide, if you choose to use it you use it at your own risk. Aspiration/aspiration pneumonia are potential complications of administering any product by mouth or as a result of regurgitation and/or vomitting.Thank you and see you again.
