Creators of Ipswich gather, major roadworks update, loyal canines & UniSQ leads space research

SPARK Festival lights up Ipswich city centre, creators of Ipswich summit ignites imaginations, latest update on a major roadworks project, nominations open for this year’s Ipswich Sports Awards, military and service working dogs recognised for loyal service and University of Southern Queensland set to blaze a trail in space research.

Image: UniSQ rocket scientist Professor David Buttsworth. Professor Buttsworth designed the university’s hypersonic wind tunnel which is being used extensively in hypersonics research in collaboration with Defence, and international projects with NASA and the Japanese and European Space Agencies. The facility (the only one in Australia, and one of a handful in the world) allows one to physically test models and concepts including flying at high speeds close to Mach 5 that may one day get us from Brisbane to New York in 2 and a half hours.
