DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) have just launched a new recorded audio description service providing greater access to their exhibitions and some of their films for blind and partially sighted people which is now available on DCA’s website and through the Bloomberg smartphone app.

RNIB Connect Radio’s Toby Davey was joined by DCA’s Communications Officer Alison Scott along with Kay Hamlyn their Exhibitions Assistant to find out more about DCA’s new digital audio description service.

Alison and Kay began by giving a bit of background to DCA and why DCA wanted to start to offer online recorded audio descriptions to blind and partially sighted visitors, how the new service is providing wider choice and the opportunity to listen to the descriptions before a visit, during a walk around the gallery spaces or at any time you would like to listen from wherever you might be.

Then to a bit of an introduction to the current exhibition at DCA which has accompanying recorded audio description and some of the feedback they have received so far from both blind and partially sighted visitors and also DCA staff.

To find out more about DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) and their new online recorded audio description service do visit their website - https://www.dca.org.uk
