Eight (part 2) The Spirit of Identity (Robert Conn)

Romans 8 is one of the most encouraging and powerful chapters in all of the Bible for believers. It begins with "no condemnation", it ends with "no separation", and is filled with our "adoption as God's children". In this second sermon, we see three things we have been given in Christ to help us not conform to this world: a new mission, a new identity, and a new legacy. <br/><br/>TEXT: Romans 8:12-17<br/><br/>In Christ we’ve been given 3 things: We have a new  MISSION (v12-13)This new mission comes with a RESPONSIBILITY . Putting to death the deeds of our sinful nature apart from the power of the Spirit… is called LEGALISM.Our responsibility is not to put to death the sinful nature in us… Jesus already did that! Our responsibility is to put to death the deeds (the practice of) the sinful nature.See also Colossians 3:5-10We have a new  IDENTITY (v14-15)Our Identity is not who WE SAY we are… Our identity is who GOD SAYS we are.We have a new LEGACY (v17)RESISTING the pressure to conform to this world will always cost us.However, the price we pay for not conforming… PAYS OFF!Need Prayer?
