Ep. 107: Dr. Glen Laman, Jamaican Entrepreneur, Author and KC Boys Association
Dr. Glen Laman was born in rural Jamaica in the parish of St. Ann. He attended high school at Kingston College and worked briefly for Reynolds Jamaica Mines. In 1969, he migrated to the USA where he attended Pace University and Brenau University for undergrad and master’s degrees respectively. He has had an extensive career in corporate America as an Information Technology and Business Project Manager, having worked at major corporations such as the Coca-Cola Company, J C Penney and AT&T. Some 40 years after completing his undergraduate degree, he graduated from the University of Management and Technology (UMT) with a doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). He is the author of two books namely, Jamaican Entrepreneurship and The Hero of Fern Gully. In this episode, we talked about his life journey, exploring his roots in Jamaica and the formative experiences that shaped his perspective. Dr. Glen talked about his educational pursuits and the remarkable story of how he navigated the path to the US, where he would forge a vibrant life and career over the span of more than four decades. He takes us on a global tour, sharing his career adventures that spanned various corners of the world. His academic journey culminated in a remarkable Ph.D. pursuit, where he explored the realm of Jamaican entrepreneurship.
