Ep 2 Intervention and Birth Trauma
Hearing a traumatic birth story can stick in our minds and re surface in our own labors. From generational trauma passed down from grandmother to mother to you, or your best friend who experienced abuse from her practitioner, birth trauma is shared all too freely and without thought to the person receiving that story. I know I will probably hear a LOT of hate from women in this episode who think women SHOULD share their trauma. I will say, I AGREE. I just think it should be done with a professional healer that can fully hear and heal that trauma that is stored inside your system.

As a birth doula, my favorite births are the HBAC, VBAC, and redemption births. I listen to a mother's 1st birth story and help her re write that story without the narrative that her body failed her.

Most birth trauma stems from a lack of full education on natural birth as well as the interventions that arise in birth and how to advocate for yourself or your partner properly. I have witnessed far too much medical gaslighting and abuse in our hospital systems to not think that birth trauma statistic has to be upwards of 50% of moms who birth there. C Section rates are at an all time high (1 in 3 births) and happening daily unnecessarily.

In this episode I discuss some "normal" things that have been spread as dangerous and lead to many birth trauma stories as well as risks associated with each of the most popular interventions.

To learn more about how to empower yourself and your birth partner take my childbirth education course which I have made 50% off with code MOM50 https://www.emmyrobbindoula.com/Support the show
