I chose alcoholism as my first topic to start this podcast off because it is so deep rooted in our culture. I grew up watching alcohol be drank on any occasion, or on a daily basis to be honest, as a form of hospitality. Punjabis feel shameful if they don't offer alcohol to someone in their home and our music promotes and glorifies it. I recognise the positives, that being the community getting together, socialising and taking a break from the stresses of day to day life but also the negatives, the alarming rate of liver disease, the domestic violence and most importantly the state of the mental health of these individuals
