In today's episode, I'd like to discuss a very real situation in which so many of us feel immense pressure to teach spelling well but feel as if we don't have the knowledge to do so.

Spelling knowledge has two aspects to consider: content and pedagogical. Learning English structure, phonemes, graphemes, and orthographic conventions is important. Teaching explicitly and determining the best instruction methods for spelling is also crucial. It's important to consider which concepts to teach, how often, and whether to teach whole class or small group. Weekly spelling tests may also be a consideration.

Quick Links
Jocelyn Seamer Education Homepage
The Resource Room
The Evergreen Teacher
Shop
Youtube channel
Facebook Page

#jocelynseamereducation #literacy #bestpractice #earlyprimaryyears #primaryschool #primaryschools #primaryschoolteacher #earlyyearseducation #earlyyearseducator #structuredliteracy #scienceofreading #classroom #learning #learningisfun #studentsuccess #studentsupport #teacherlife #theresourceroom #theevergreenteacher #upperprimary #upperprimaryteacher #thestructuredliteracypodcast #phoneme #grapheme #phonics #syntheticphonics
