Join us on today's episode of What’s Up?/¿Qué Rollo? as I have the privilege of speaking with Elsa Bañuelos-Lindsay, a true champion for her community. As a first-generation, working-class Latina and the daughter of immigrants, Elsa has dedicated over 22 years to fighting for equity and justice. Her journey began in high school, where she organized campaigns to improve conditions at West High School in Denver, Colorado. Elsa's determination led her to become the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Spanish from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Prior to her current role as the Executive Director of Movimiento Poder, formerly known as Padres & Jóvenes Unidos, Elsa empowered community members as the Program Coordinator for the Promotora project at Clínica Tepeyac. Since 2003, Elsa has been an integral part of Movimiento Poder, leading youth and parent-led campaigns while strengthening the organization from within. In November 2019, she made history as the first solo Executive Director, a remarkable achievement for both her and the organization. Elsa's visionary spirit has driven her to create a groundbreaking youth leadership development program within Movimiento Poder. By bridging personal struggles with systemic issues, this program empowers Latine youth and parents aged 14 to 30 in Metro-Denver, fostering a deep sense of belonging and inspiring transformative experiences. Tune in as we delve into her incredible journey and the driving force behind her passion for change.https://www.buzzsprout.com/220....3898/supporthttps:// intro by Nico Reglio "No es un secreto (instrumental) licensed through Epidemic Sound

Support the show
