I believe it was Dorothy Parker who said, "I hate writing. I love having written." That applies in spades for songwriting. For me, anyway. My voice coach, Judy Davis, used to talk about songwriters vs. song-maker-uppers ... I like to think of myself as a songwriter. Of course, she loved the old standards more than anything. For good reason. We boomers have our own standards.
