Gov. Newsom signed some bills to improve and accelerate infrastructure

Governor Newsom signed into law today a package of bills that he says will streamline and accelerate the construction of some major infrastructure projects in California.  The measures were the result of a compromise hammered out between the governor, the legislature, business interests and environmentalists. The bills were part of the state’s budget negotiations this year and are designed to speed up things like new reservoirs and solar and wind farms, while relaxing some environmental protections, despite some concerns about what this might mean for some protected species.
