Interview with Jade Griffin, Painter

0 Views· 11/01/22

Jade Griffin is a self-taught painter/artist who is originally from and is currently based in Fort Myers Florida. Jade's artwork is a mirror reflection of her mind's inner dialogue, and how she interprets her life experiences. Her work uncovers her story as a black, androgynous female that grew from southern black culture and how the "ideologies" of her upbringing shapes the way she interacts with the world around her today. With her eccentric use of Oil, acrylic, and pastels (soft and oil pastels) Jade creates dynamic, eye-catching bodies of work that are full of movement charged with sensuality, emotion, wit, and sexuality. Jade's overlapping, brushstroke techniques offer a direct but subjective approach to her storytelling in her artwork. In her work, she tells stories exploring sexuality, stereotypes, emotion, gender-fluidity, and African American and LGBTQ culture. In the past years, Jade's work has been exhibited in the Non Profit Organization Love Your Rebellion's : Murals on Tour Traveling Exhibition (2020-2021), Alliance For The Art's Members Group exhibition Titled " Challenging Stereotypes" (2022), and the "JUST SAY GAY" Art exhibition with Fabulous Art Foundation (2022).The Truth In This ArtThe Truth In This Art is a podcast interview series supporting vibrancy and development of Baltimore & beyond's arts and culture.
