SHOW HIGHLIGHTSWe all should be breathing through our noses.Airway volume, oxygen exchange, and symmetry are important for development, performance, quality of life, heart health, and circulation. The tongue forms the palate; therefore, we should be resting our tongue against the roof of our mouth.Men typically have a higher breathing velocity and space than females when measured by peak nasal inspiratory flow.Studies show that CPAP only has a 30-60% success rate. The airway should first be open, prepared, and have the correct tongue posture so that a CPAP machine can work. Myofunctional therapy should come first.Breathing can affect attention and focus, social and sensory dysregulation, depression and anxiety, snoring, and sleep apnea. To learn more about Innovative Oral Solutions / MyMouthWorks® check out their website at https://iosmmw.com or call (760) 438-3300.Subscribe to The Performance Collective™ Podcast wherever you consume your podcasts.
