The goal is for the offender to learn and turn.God pronounces His severe sentence on Israel, so that they may eventually learn and turn.In Hosea 5, we how God informs Israel about His discipline:Their Leadership is CulpableTheir Traitorship is VisibleTheir Worship is HypocriticalTheir Hardship is IntentionalTheir Fellowship is ConditionalInstead of leading Israel to know and love God, their leaders have led them astray. They have become a snare and a net.Israel's spiritual whoredom is all too visible to God.Yet they put up false pretences in hypocritical worship in spite of ongoing sin and idolatry.God now threatens to inflict severe hardship upon Israel, so that they may eventually learn & turn.The only way to have fellowship with God is when we humble ourselves, acknowledge our guilt, and seek His face.This sermon seeks to encourage the seeker to see God's hand in orchestrating all things in life, even painful things, to lead him to Himself.
