Lina Barkawi speaks on importance of maintaining traditional embroidery artform

Tatreez is intrinsically tied to Palestinian history and the ongoing fight for liberation. The history of the Israeli occupation has directly impacted how tatreez is practiced and she is drawn to returning back to indigenous practices as her own way of supporting Palestinian liberation. We all have a role to play and it is her hope that supporting this return to Palestinian ancestral traditions through tatreez contributes towards a just and free Palestine.
