We have a problem. In American Christianity, often professing Christians are Christians “in name only.” Jesus dealt with a similar concern with his disciples during His ministry. What will it take for us to see Jesus as he really is, our Messiah? That is the point of the progression of Christ’s interactions with his disciples in Mark 8:11-30. Jesus warns them of the dangers of unbelief. He helps them handle doubts. Then he prompts them to perceive the reality of who he is. As we study Mark 8 today the Scriptures will move us from unbelief, doubt and apathy to the overwhelming conviction that Jesus is the Messiah, our Christ!
