Max & Ivan: Fugitives & Shadowmagic + 3 season finales!
Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the weekly newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.Let’s get into it, shall we?Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End - the 40th - highlighted 6 shows in the Season Finales & Finished Series section, and 3 of them wrapped within the last week:π€£βπ§βοΈ Gareth and the Lost Island, a dramatized steampunk fantasy comedy from Venomous Duck Media, published the season 1 finale on June 7th. It’s also LGBTQ+ friendly and has actors across the spectrum. Listen to the 11 episodes of the 1st season in about six and a half hours. The 2nd season will start next year.
πΉπ©Έπ± Hex Noir, a dramatized horror show from Hilmar Loftsson, posted the finale of the 2nd season also on June 7th. Carve out about 7 hours to listen to the current 18 episodes because the 3rd season starts in just a couple of weeks.
π¦Ύπ€π©π» The Strata, a dramatized scifi series from Mark R. Healy, makes another appearance on the show with the wrap of the 8th season on June 6th. 50 episodes right now, so give yourself about 22 hours if you’re starting from episode 1. The 9th season will start in August.
This WeekWith every issue, I made two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As will all things in life, YMMV.π»πͺπ Up first is Max & Ivan: Fugitives, a dramatized comedy thriller from Storyglass. It’s a hilarious look at the insane world of global politics that’s presented in the highest of quality, which you can hear in this trailer. [trailer plays] Max & Ivan: Fugatives is a complete story. Listen to all 8 episodes in about three and a half hours.
πβοΈβ¨ My next recommendation is an old favorite of mine. Shadowmagic is a narrated fantasy adventure from my friend and traveling magician, John Lenahan. Shadowmagic was first released back in 2006. Yes, 2006. Back before there were trailers, so here’s a sample from the first episode. [sample plays] Shadowmagic is a complete story, with 31 episodes and about 9 hours of enjoyment. There are two more stories in this series, and I highly encourage you get them as well, because John is a great writer and an outstanding storyteller.
Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 1 entry in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, but it doesn’t start for several weeks, so I’m instead asking you to please consider becoming a supporter of my newsletter and podcast. This is very much a labor of love, so if you love the work an
