S3 - Ep. 1 Special interview series with Rebecca MacLeod
Rebecca MacLeod is strong believer that connecting to your creativity is a core component to overall wellness. We often lose touch with our creativity, but reconnecting with it can be both healing and empowering as it allows us to express what might not yet be easy to put into words. As a Registered Social Worker and Professional Art Therapist she works with women to feel empowered and prepared for the mental and emotional changes that come naturally with motherhood. She believes that as much care, preparation and attention that goes toward having a baby should also be put toward the ‘birth’ of a mom. Rebecca resides in oxford county with her daughter and husband on their dairy farm. She brings 5+ years of clinical experience working with children & youth as well as parents & adults. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary and a Graduate Degree from the Canadian International institute of Art Therapy where she now instructs part time. Rebecca offers virtual art therapy services through her website, rebeccamacleod.ca and offers in person group services at The WOMB in Woodstock. Her prenatal art therapy group, Creative Changes, will be running January 7th 2023 and is a 6 week group designed to empower you for the many mental and emotional shifts that pregnancy and motherhood naturally bring. In the group you will connect with your creativity to explore topics such as common perinatal mental health experiences, adjusting to body changes, practicing self compassion, labour prep and visualization, coping with anxiety and fears as well as growing into identity shifts. No art making experience or skill is required, the purpose of art making in the group is all for expression and connection.
