S3: EP3 | Bongeziwe Mabandla - "My Music Is Sad & I Am Cool With That"
I am still in South Africa and today meeting with Afro-Folk soulful singer and performer Bongeziwe Mabandla who is into making experimental music and fusing multiple genres. Bongeziwe's string of success includes four acclaimed albums and groundbreaking live music performances in his country South Africa and on various international stages and festivals. His early musical influences stem back to his childhood in the rural town of Tsolo in the Eastern Cape where he grew up singing in church, at school and at home. He moved to Johannesburg to study drama at AFDA but later found himself in music instead of film. In 2022 however Bongeziwe joined the set of a film being shot in Kinshasa by musician and filmmaker BALOJI.In this interview, Bongeziwe is looking back at his early influences, key collaborations and moments that influenced his growth and identity. We are also discussing the shift and consistency between his albums: Umlilo (2012), Mangaliso (2017), iimini (2020) & amaXesha (2023). With a steadily growing fanbase across the world and a spirit that represents African soul, Bongeziwe continues to build a steady career while releasing relatable raw music that tells "life stories" even if it's about sadness. He says, "I think people are afraid of those kind of emotions."#VIPACCESSWithAnyiko #BongeziweMabandla #amaXesha Season 3 Eps 3Stream Bongeziwe's music: https://linktr.ee/BongeziweMabandlaSubscribe to VIP ACCESS YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/VIPA....CCESSwithANYIKOAnyik TV on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anyikotv/Anyiko TV on Twitter: https://twitter.com/anyikotvAnyiko TV on TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@anyikotvVIP ACCESS SEASON 2 PLAYLISTBoomplay Music: https://rb.gy/qkhjkkApple Music: https://rb.gy/lu6m1hSpotify: https://rb.gy/lk9orq
