Shots! Winter Beers and Barley Wine with Matt Leff of Rhizome Productions
Hosts Mike and Kenneth sit down with Matt Leff, founder of Rhizome Productions, ahead of the “Winter Warmer,” their annual beer festival in Germantown which kicks off Saturday, December 3rd from 11am – 4pm in Morgan Park. The trio discuss what makes a winter beer while tasting some special barrel-aged beers from Matt’s personal cellar. Matt shares insights on the changing world of craft beer, how climate change is affecting the lambic beers made in Belgium (which he’ll be featuring at the festival), Germantown’s beer-brewing roots in Nashville, and how he got a local brewery to put jelly doughnuts into a white stout. Also discussed: what barrel-aging does to beer and why a barley wine can get you turnt up real quick. Cheers to beer! This year’s Winter Warmer benefits the Oasis Center in Nashville, helping disadvantaged youth build bicycles that they get to keep. Mike Wolf’s new book Cheer: A Liquid Gold Holiday Drinking Guide is available now! Pick up a copy ASAP! Music by Upright T-Rex Music. <br />Logo by Jess Machen
