Silver Screen Podcast - Power Rangers (2017) Review
Episode 52 - "Seek only those who are worthy. Find only those who are strong." Hey podcast fans, anybody know what time it is? That's right, "it's morphin' time!" 30 years ago, almost to the day of this podcast releasing, a phenomenon was born; the very first episode of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers began a franchise with rare longevity and cultural impact. Mike exercised his executive privilege on this one, figuring we had to do something to commemorate the occasion. And so fate chose like power coins choosing new teen heroes; we're reviewing the divisive but seemingly little seen 2017 movie simply titled 'Power Rangers'. Mike is hosting (of course) and as well as subjecting usual co-host D.K to his first time viewing this movie we're joined by returning guest Conor Esser from Pasty Sheep & Nerd Bible podcast. Mike joined that podcast for a deep dive into Power Rangers earlier this year and Conor volunteered back then to also view this movie for the first time and give his thoughts. Our illustrious trio will discuss everything from supposed Zack Snyder style, unexpected aesthetic choices, autism & LGBTQ representation, redesigns, lore changes, missed opportunities and cow masturbation jokes. They'll also touch on the big name and rising star actors including Elizabeth Banks absolutely devouring scenery with a side of ham & cheese, Dacre Montgomery's "contractually-obligated" bad hairstyles, Kimberley's secret superpower of achieving salon quality hairstyling in a school bathroom with craft scissors, and so much more. So link up your connection to the morphin' grid, ready the zords and may the power protect you as you enjoy this heroic episode."Love Tyneside Cinema" fund raising campaign; https://tynesidecinema.co.uk/about-us/support-us/ Music by Timeless Journey.
