Songs We Respect, But Think Could Be Better - Episode #1
Joshua, Rachel, and Nathan do a topical episode on songs that they share concerns about that are popular (or were once popular) choices for songs in many evangelical churches today. Although the primary heart of this podcast is to positively promote and encourage use of certain songs and hymns, it is also important–from a song selection standpoint–to see the negative reasoning against songs that one could've picked for corporate worship but chose not to. They touch on many topics including the importance of accuracy, clarity, and intentionality regarding lyric choice by songwriters, specific attributes of God, the ultimate purposes of God in saving His people, and the person and function of the Holy Spirit.0:00 - Intro/Preface4:25 - "Above All" by Lenny LeBlanc, Paul Baloche18:12 - "Reckless Love" by Cory Asbury, Caleb Culver, Ran Jackson35:50 - "Holy Spirit" by Bryan & Katie Torwalt51:06 - Conclusion-----Blurb for Rachel's Instagram page "Simple Bible":"Simple Bible is an Instagram page that seeks to inspire women of all ages to read God’s Word for themselves.
