Taking Back My Birth: From a Near-Death Experience to a Redemptive Homebirth, with Gaby
In the first episode of the Military Birth Talk podcast, we hear from Gaby Cavins, Navy veteran, and Executive Director of the Military Birth Resource Network and Postpartum coalition. Gaby shares her three birth stories, including a traumatic hospital birth, followed by a "freeing and healing" hospital birth, and concluding with a "silent, peaceful" homebirth. Gaby shares about the way in which her varied births, and her processing of each of these transformative experiences during the postpartum period, led her to eventually become a birth worker herself. She also shares about the complexities of giving birth as an Active Duty service member. Gaby then discusses her work with MBRNPC, and shares some of the unique resources it provides to the military community.
