That You May Have Certainty
This message introduces a new series on the Gospel of Luke. The first four verses introduce the book. Although the author does not self-identify, tradition assigns the book to Luke, who also wrote the Acts of the Apostles. Luke was a Gentile who came to Christ probably through the preaching of Christians scattered by the persecution of Steven -Acts 7-. These Christan went as far as Antioch of Syria, Lukes home. There are a number of internal proofs that demonstrate Lukes' being a Gentile. He was also a companion to Paul, even in Rome prior to Paul's execution -2 Timothy 4-11-. -Luke has the most complete account of Jesus' pre-ministry background. Luke also stresses Jesus' introduction of the Kingdom of God. There are 46 direct references to the Kingdom in Lukes' Gospel. Luke only has Jesus' saying, -Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom- -12-32-.
