The Houli’s Hooley Podcast, Sat. August 19, 2023
Paddy Houlihan, Bill Houlihan, and Clay O’Brien Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Big Corner Tavern and Flood Brothers Disposal present The Houli’s Hooley with brothers Paddy and Bill Houlihan and their good friend, Clay O’Brien. We’ve struck gold again this week as our favorite trio are together once again! They delve right into a discussion on preparing kids for going back to school. “It’s all pens and pencils and backpacks!” Clay suggests making your own pencils – “a thousand ones a day!” The kids are growing up too fast and it’s making Paddy nervous seeing as he’s officially the parent of an adolescent now.. Work woes are a hot topic in the first half of this week’s show, as well as some interesting new impressions. Fashion Talk returns this week with some judgement on Billy’s choice of wrist wear. Twinkles ‘n’ Sparkles! Clay’s lingering around the magazine section at Jewel Osco again… “I don’t believe in toe rings for men!” – Paddy. Is he going to get a gold tooth? Will it get him on the cover of Time Magazine?! Only time will tell.. According to these guys, their school dress code made them look “like coked up stockbrokers”. We take a musical break at the halfway mark with “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry. Now that Britney’s divorced, Paddy is liking his chances and he specifically wants to discuss ‘Federline Fears’ with her. Clay shares his unbelievable past experience with KC and the Sunshine Band – you have to hear it to believe it! Strange TV shows from their childhood, Bill’s singing voice and his ability to improv songs are just some of the other hilarious and very random topics the trio cover this week. It’s always guaranteed to be a great show when these three are together! We end this week with one of Britney’s best, “Hit Me Baby One More Time”.
